Got a message from us?

Here's why, and how to make it stop.

We make a concept of a new website for a local business, then send one short message or letter to ask if they'd like it. If that was you, this page explains exactly what we did.

To stop hearing from us

Reply no thanks to the email, or write "no" on the letter and post it back (the envelope is prepaid). We add you to a permanent do-not-contact list the same day and delete the concept. We never contact anyone on that list again, under any name.

What we did

  1. We read your public listing: your Google Business Profile, Companies House entry or existing website. Name, trade, town, phone, opening hours, the services you list.
  2. We checked your current site (if you have one) against 13 measurements anyone can see, such as whether it fits a phone and loads quickly.
  3. We built a private concept from those details. It isn't on Google (it's marked noindex), it says plainly at the top that it's a concept and not affiliated with you, and it's deleted after 30 days or as soon as you ask.
  4. A person (The owner, who runs First Fitting) read and approved the message before it went. We send at most 25 a day.

Why an email for some and a letter for others

UK rules (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, PECR) let businesses email limited companies and LLPs about relevant services without prior consent, as long as the sender is named and there's an easy opt-out. Sole traders and partnerships are treated like individuals, so we never email them cold. They get a short letter by post instead.
